We all love a good cup of coffee at Starbucks. With so many options to customize your drink including whipped cream, syrups, and toppings, it’s easy to forget how many calories you are adding to your drink. I have a few tricks and tips for you to help cut calories while still enjoying your Venti latte!
- Go nonfat. By simply choosing your drink to be non-fat (skim milk, that is), you are cutting off about 30 calories or more per drink. Not only that, but you are also avoiding milk fat.
- Make it “skinny”. A grande Iced skinny mocha is 100 calories with only 1.5 grams of fat (accounting for the mocha sauce), whereas a regular grande Iced mocha is 350 calories and 17 grams of fat.
- Sweetened vs “Unsweetened”. One of my favorite drinks at Starbucks is their Venti Iced Coffee with skim milk, sweetened with Splenda or sugar-free vanilla. This drink is only 40 calories. Yeah… 40 CALORIES for a VENTI! Not only does it taste good, but I don’t feel guilty drinking it. Next time you visit your favorite Starbucks, try asking for your drink “unsweetened” or substitute their regular sweetener with a non-calorie sweetener like Splenda.
